The End of the Line
As Openreach phases out the traditional landline – we have plenty of options.
ISDN and PSTN (landlines) are costly, and almost at end-of-life and the network is being shut down in 2027.
Openreach (a part of BT) runs and manages the PSTN (landline) and ISDN network in the UK. These networks are being phased out across the UK by 2027. If you need a ‘phone line’ (a phone number) in 2024, we have plenty of options including:
- Moving to MyTelecom Cloud Digital Phone line (a VoIP) based service
- Moving to a hosted phone system – which gives more features (such as call recording and desktop or mobile apps)
- Using an alternative legacy service (in some areas) which will also be phased out by 2030
